- Please note that funding is limited and not every application is guaranteed funding. Friendship Centres (FCs) and Provincial/Territorial Associations (PTAs) are eligible to apply for up to $90,000 per year for a 2-year period with a total of $180,000 to support Indigenous Languages Programming.
Program Guidelines
The following document is intended to help guide Friendship Centres (FCs) and Provincial Territorial Associations (PTAs) that are interested in applying to the National Association of Friendship Centres (NAFC) for the Indigenous Languages Program (ILP) through the steps of preparing and submitting their application.
Program Overview
Through funding from Heritage Canada, the NAFC will distribute $3.75 million to FCs and PTAs to support the delivery of Indigenous language programs and to establish best practices for the development and delivery of Indigenous language programs, to reclaim, revitalize, maintain, and strengthen Indigenous languages.
The ILP is also designed to revitalize the use of Indigenous languages and produce new speakers. The ILP will be launched on June 16, 2023, and will close on June 30, 2023. FCs and PTAs can apply to receive up to $90,000 per year for a 2-year period with a total of $180,000 to support an existing or new Indigenous languages program.
