Media Release: Shady Hafez promoted to NAFC Program Manager
The National Association of Friendship Centres (NAFC) is pleased to announce the promotion of Shady Hafez to the role of Programs Manager. Mr. Hafez is Algonquin Anishinabe from Kitigan Zibi Anishnabeg and has worked at the NAFC on both research and program files, most recently as the Special Projects Advisor working on Infrastructure and the Investment Readiness Program. Shady is also a PhD student in Sociology at the University of Toronto, and a Research Fellow at the Yellowhead Institute. Hafez will focus on moving the Programs teams projects ahead as we grow and continue to provide the best support to the Friendship Centre Movement.

He has consistently proven his technical, analytical, and strategic abilities and immeasurable commitment to the work of Friendship Centres” said Jocelyn Formsma, NAFC Chief Executive Officer, “We are fortunate to promote one of our own into this management role and help him to implement the exciting and bold ideas on where we can go next."

Friendship Centres mean a lot to me having started at the Odawa Friendship Centre, and it has been a great experience being able to support Friendship Centres at the national level” said Hafez, “I know and believe in the extraordinary work Friendship Centres have been doing for the last 70 years and look forward to lead the Programs team in supporting the Friendship Centre Movement.”
