UAKN Partnerships

Government Departments

Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC) has been helpful and involved with respect to our research, book publications, and grant submissions. Statistics Canada has assisted by providing numerous Aboriginal Peoples Survey/Census 2006 datasets that are used as a basis for our research findings as well as data and mapping information.

Regional Research Centres

In preparation of the 2010-2011 SSHRC Application the UAKN Secretariat partnered with four universities which represent the UAKN Regional Research Centres (RRCs). RRCs will comprise networks of researchers, representatives of Aboriginal communities, policy-makers from different orders of government, and practitioners.

Our academics from the four Regional Research Centres across Canada have been very strong and influential partners within the UAKN, both past and present.

The four Regional Research Centres include:

University of New Brunswick – Atlantic Research Centre – Dr. Verle Harrop

Trent University – Ontario, Quebec Research Centre – Dr. David Newhouse

University of Saskatchewan – Saskatchewan, Manitoba Research Centre – Dr. Ryan Walker

University of Northern British Columbia – British Columbia, Alberta – Dr. Paul Bowles and Dr. Ross Hoffman
